So what is it all about....?
It's a fresh expression of church - which means trying church in a whole new way.
We meet on the last Saturday of every month from 3.30 to 6 pm, each session involves lots of crafts, story, singing, and sharing a hot meal together.
As the name suggests, - it is quite messy and unlike any form of church you might have tried before!
Messy Church is aimed at families with young children, but is suitable for anyone from babies to the elderly who are young at heart, and want to learn about God and how much He loves the world, in a fun and creative way.
Messy Church welcomes over 100 adults and children each month. Each service starts with a time of active worship with some action songs led by Phil and the Messy Church Band.
We then share an interactive story before splitting up to take part in a range of craft based activities. So far, crafts have included making animal masks, fruit cocktails, finding food in a bath of jelly and playing with slime.
There are often some more thought provoking activities too such as thinking about what makes God happy or sad. We come back together to show each other what we have made and think about how it relates to the story before finishing with our tea (superbly cooked by team DAD - David, Andrew and David!)
