Alpha is a programme initiated 13 years ago by Holy Trinity Brompton and since then more than 7 million people have attended Alpha courses all over the world. Alpha invites 'guests' to "explore the meaning of life." It is a course which seeks to explain the basics of the Christian faith in a relaxed and intelligible way and it is therefore designed primarily as an outreach initiative for people who are interested in exploring the claims of Christianity but have not made a commitment themselves. However, it is not exclusively for enquirers and countless believers have also attended Alpha courses to 'brush up' their understanding and have been truly blessed as a result.

After an extended period of prayer and preparation St Alphege launched its first Alpha courses in September 2004. Over 20 people participated in three different groups which ran through to just before Christmas and were hosted and led by Church family members. A further course commenced in Spring 2005 and a further group started in March 2006.
All of those fortunate enough to have been involved with these initial courses can testify to many blessings and the clear movement of the Holy Spirit in people's lives. A number of participants have made commitments and their integration into our Church family life has enriched us all.
Alpha is the answer to those who are searching for some answers and who are open to understanding more fully the supreme significance of Jesus Christ and His claim to be "the Way, the Truth and the Life". The UK Alpha course website has details of courses available throughout the United Kingdom.
