December 10th - Work continues apace to try and get the majority of the screed down before Christmas. This will give it a couple of weeks drying out time before work starts again in the New Year. This drying out is particularly important in the main Worship Hall as such a large area needs to be dried out slowly to avoid cracking. Before the screed can be laid all the underfloor heating and insulation has to be down - so its everyone clambering over everyone else inside. Outside, the contractor has begun some of the external works of laying paths. It will certainly be nice to walk on tarmac and slabs rather than the liquid mud produced by the last two weeks of storms and heavy rain.
The public visits mentioned in November will be taking place between 3pm and 5pm from Tuesday 19th December to Thursday 21st December, so if you would like to see close up the progress being made then ... come on down!
December 21st - Phew! the last of the groups has been shown round and we are huddled in the site office over a hot cup of tea. Despite the cold, and by the end of the afternoon dark, everyone has been very positive about the building. The most popular comment has been how large it is on the inside when it looks quite low from the outside.
December 22nd - The last of the floor screed is laid late in the afternoon as all the stops have been pulled out to make sure it gets the maximum drying out time. Well done to Dave and his team - have a good break.
