Alpha is a course which seeks to explain the basics of the Christian faith in a relaxed and intelligible way and it is therefore designed primarily as an outreach initiative for people who are interested in exploring the claims of Christianity but have not made a commitment themselves.
After an extended period of prayer and preparation St Alphege launched its first Alpha courses in September 2004. Over 20 people participated in three different groups which ran through to just before Christmas and were hosted and led by Church family members. Further courses followed throughout 2005 with further programmes in 2006 and 2007. Bring a friend and find out what Alpha can do to change your life.
Alpha is the answer to those who are searching for some answers and who are open to understanding more fully the supreme significance of Jesus Christ and His claim to be "the Way, the Truth and the Life."
The Open Door is there to serve the people of Seasalter, through opening the Christian Centre and serving free coffee and cakes. We want to provide a relaxing place for people to meet, share their problems and joys, to be served and listened to, and that way show the love of God.
Meeting every Thursday between 10.30 am and noon the regular attendance is around forty. The friendly warm atmosphere enables new friendships to be made and we have been delighted that many attendees have found their way to our Church on Sunday.
Within the Community of Seasalter we operate an outreach programme whereby members of our church family visit families who may need someone to share their problems with or just a friendly face to talk to. It has been found that a lot of problems spiral out of control around debt and, as a church family, we will try to assist if at all possible. Recent examples of assistance include beds, wardrobes and childrens clothing. Please let Jill Freeman know should you have any surplus furniture or domestic items.
